Nuno Felt Wearables with Sharit
Charity is a fashion designer specializing in wearable art using felted wool. In four days, students will create a sample and then a pattern and finally finished garments to fit their body. Participants can felt a coat or a long sleeve dress, a tunic, or a skirt and may have time to make more than one garment. Enjoy hands on learning in a small group setting. Explore textures and shapes to suit your taste. Charity will work with each student to achieve the design of their choice. You can create a felted garment modeling one of her styles or bring your own ideas for guidance in creating a truly one of a kind work of wearable art.
About the Instructor:
Charity Musoma van der Meer
Charity van der Meer with her label Sharit ,graduated in Fashion Design and Knitwear at the Nottingham Art and Design University in 2002. She moved to the Netherlands in the same year, where she worked in fashion and design independently.
She developed her own collection using the felting technique. Charity believes that felt gives her a wide range of creative possibilities, which she pursues by constantly researching and experimenting with new materials and techniques using natural textiles, raw materials and organic fibers.
Her "Sharit Ethical Fashion" collection did catch Li Edelkoort’s eye in Paris, where her dresses were used in the collection. She is a well known felting teacher who shares her techniques with students all over the world.
