How Do I Needle Felt?
The process of needle felting is beginner-friendly and effortless to learn. In needle felting, or “dry” felting, as some people call it, you use a special needle to manipulate wool into the shape of your choosing. These special needles are called felting needles and are specifically designed for this craft.
Wool has naturally occurring scales on each fiber. Driving the tapered end of the needle into the wool will cause the fibers to entangle, creating structure. Repeat this process until you have a firm shape; the firmer the felt, the longer your creation will last.
Needle felting is a very versatile art form; you can create 3D sculptures and flat 2D images. It is an excellent craft for adults and children, so no one gets to miss out on the fun.
