Wet Felting Kit: Wet Felt an Octopus

Have fun and get creative with this colorful and textural kit for wet felting an octopus. This delightful project was created by Living Felt BFF Helen Russell.

Helen is a talented artist who works in a variety of mediums and she loves octopuses...who doesn't, right? While felting along with one of our tutorials for making a heart dangler, Helen envisioned using similar methods to make an octopus.

She worked out a few different ideas until she came up with the process shown in the free tutorial linked below. We are so grateful to Helen for sharing this project with us and for allowing us to share it with you!

In this kit, you will get:

Merino Top in 2 colors
Merino-Silk Blend or Decadence Blend
Luster fibers such as Viscose, Bamboo or Tussah Silk
Wool Nepps
Wool batting for eyes, and to cover neck after stuffing
Patterns for creating the resist and template for legs

Also Needed:

Polyfill or Core Wool to stuff head (we used poly)
Resist
Nuno Bubble
Mesh
Thin Plastic Sheeting
Olive Oil Soap
Ball Brause (optional)
Towels
Wood dowel for rolling
Bamboo mat or Super Bubble helpful for making legs
Felting Needles (we recommend a 38 Star-Spiral, Triangle, or Spiral and 40 Triangle or Spiral)
Needle Felting Pad 5x5 or larger
