It is made of 100% WoolThe WOW Mat provides a firmer base than the foam. *Because the WOW pads are so firm, it is important to teach students to needle felt into their wool shape and avoid driving the needle through the mat, coarse needles may bow or bend, and fine needles may hit the table top. You can use place mats or foam under the WOW mat as a buffer.
For 2D projects on the Foam Pad or WOW Mat, use your fine needles (40 and 42) and focus on felting the wool to the top of your "canvas" (wool felt, linen, etc.) That means shallow pokes. It takes a little practice but keeps more wool on TOP of your picture and pushes less to the BACK...no one sees it there! :)
