• The rarefied, sparse, or "discharged" Margilan silk is lighter weight and even more open than our delicious Uzbek Silk. See our sample photos and call with questions. This is a delicate fabric
• This fabric will acid dye beautifully and will be great for Nuno felted items, especially for Nuno felting wearables that you want to be lightweight and drapey.
• This fabric does not pucker or "rouche" a great deal, but you can clump and cluster it for gorgeous surface design effects in your Nuno felts.

This sample shows the Margilan Silk fabric or Rarefied silk Nuno felted to Merino Top of similar and darker colors. Notice that you can clump and cluster the fabric as desired, and notice that this very open weave separates even more with Nuno felting. 

The Margilan silk yardage is a fabric that is a natural white, and dyes beautifully!

*Some people call ALL of the silks from Uzbekistan "Margilan Silk", however, we offer these corrections to these terms:

MARGILAN SILK   = Rarified Silk or Sparse Silk = the lightest weight, great for lining on garments, and in Nuno felt surface design.

GAUZE = The medium weight. Rouches nicely (rouching is smaller than Habotai which is from China)

EXCELSIOR = Heavier weight. Rouches nicely, (rouching is smaller than Habotai which is from China)
