Carding Cloth TPI
TPI refers to “teeth per square inch”
Higher number = more densely packed teeth and finer Carding Cloth
Carding cloth teeth are listed in two numbers; the first number is the cloth TPI for your licker-in, and the second number is the cloth TPI for the big drum.
54/54 TPI—Coarse
- Suitable for smooth combed tops to wool locks
- Produces a smooth to highly textured batt/roving.
- *Fibers can be passed through multiple times to achieve a smoother texture.
72/72 TPI –Medium
- An LF favorite and top seller!
- This TPI is very versatile and suitable for most fibers; MC-1, Bergschaf, Maori, NZ Corriedale, Merino Top, luster fibers, you name it!
- Produces a smooth to moderate textured batt/roving.
- *Fibers can be passed through multiple times to achieve a smoother texture.
72/90 TPI—Fine
- This TPI will card most fibers but is better suitable for finer fibers
- Produces a smooth to lightly textured batt/roving.
90/120 TPI --Super Fine
- Suitable for very fine, delicate fibers
- Produces a dreamy smooth finished batt/roving
