Nuno Felt Wearables with Sharit
Sharit is a fashion designer specializing in wearable art using felted wool. In three days, students will create a sample and then a pattern and finally finished garments to fit their body.
Participants can felt a dress or a combination of a top/vest and skirt. Enjoy hands on learning in a small group setting. Explore textures and shapes to suit your taste. Charity will work
with each student to achieve the design of their choice. You can create a felted garment modeling one of her styles or bring your own ideas for guidance in creating a truly one of a kind
work of wearable art.
Options for your nuno felt wearables workshop:
1) a tunic dress and a shawl (best option for those with a bit less experience)
2) a short vest, a skirt and a
3) a long hooded vest and a shawl (this option for more experienced)

**Overnight options for this workshop = $150 total, shared rooms on site, twin beds - meals not included * please call or email for availability
Payment for overnight is 50% upon registration, balance on arrival.
Our workshop will be held at an offsite location very close to LIVING FELT.
Overnight guests may stay Wed - Sat, or fewer nights if needed. No discount available for less nights.
We will have a lovely private property to ourselves -- room to spread out, take a walk, visit the labyrinth, or drive just a few minutes to Starbucks, grocery store and restaurants.
We will coordinate for after hours / meals of fellowship and fun - all optional.

About the Instructor:
Charity Musoma van der Meer (Sharit)
Charity van der Meer with her label Sharit ,graduated in Fashion Design and Knitwear at the Nottingham Art and Design University in 2002. She moved to the Netherlands in the same year, where she worked in fashion and design independently.
She developed her own collection using the felting technique. Charity believes that felt gives her a wide range of creative possibilities, which she pursues by constantly researching and experimenting with new materials and techniques using natural textiles, raw materials and organic fibers.
Her "Sharit Ethical Fashion" collection did catch Li Edelkoort’s eye in Paris, where her dresses were used in the collection. She is a well known felting teacher who shares her techniques with students all over the world.
Material list for the nuno felt garments
MATERIALS LIST -- (general)
400g (14oz) fine merino 18/19 mic.
8m chiffon or habotai (aka pongee) width: 44"-54" ( 110cm or 138 width)
Silk fibers. All colors
1 yard or 1m organza 2,5 . 1m crinkle chiffon /chiffon, /pongè (fabrics to use for creating layers)
Decorative knitting yarn.
3.5oz (100g) silk fibers
50%silk 50% wool, Wool blends, Combed Wensleydale or uncombed.
Wool nepps. Silk hanks silk laps.
And anything you have that can be used to create textures.
MATERIALS FOR THE TOP
Based on using fine prefelt
27+" w x 60" fine prefelt OR 7oz (200g) merino Instead of prefelt.
2yds (2m) habotai or gauze I prefer the pongè (aka habotai) because it gives a very nice textures. width = 35" (90cm)
Decorations. silk fabrics, curls, yarns, or what ever you have to create texture.
pattern paper (plastic) - Living Felt will provide
bubble wrap - Living Felt will provide
thin plastics(for the resist and to roll in) - Living Felt will provide
felting soap (olive soap)
scissors - paper and fabric
